After I’ve found myself seeking after other people’s experience, answers to my dailies issues, and after being asked for the same issues, I’ve decided to share my experience in this blog. I took the opportunity to share more fields of interests, rather than just technology, such as investments, and photography.
My intention is to keep it simple, provide some initial thoughts and reference for other articles that I found interesting. The target audience is mainly for technology enthusiasts, focusing on the practical side, with minimal knowledge requirements.
Opnfv.org has released their debut version “Arno”, 3 months ago. This release includes automated deployment tools, such as Fuel, to allow deployment of an Openstack environment virtually, or on bare metal servers. With the provided jump-start server, and a gui based wizard, you can get yourself a running Openstack controller and compute nodes, in less than 2 hours. Openfv.org has a lot of ongoing activities, of-course this is not their main intention, but this deliverable is open for the community to work with it, especially anyone who want to be compliant to Opnfv.org definitions and use cases.
In the last few days, Open-vSwitch 2.4 was released.

Since i’m interested in working with vhost user space interfaces, but with the file descriptor method, rather than cuse, I want clarify some changes from my previous post. I would like to update regarding the needed configuration.
** Update 28/08/2015 **
There is an update for this post.
Last week, open-vswitch netdev-dpdk got the long awaited vhost-user support. This feature, uses the dpdk-2.0.0 to offload the servicing of a Virtual Machine’s (VM’s) virtio-net devices to a DPDK-based application in place of the kernel’s vhost-net module. The latest patch, uses also the vhost-user library to pass traffic through user domain sockets, instead of cuse signaling..
I’ve been a raspberry fan over the last 2 years. In the beginning of this year, Raspberry 2 was introduced. I soon ordered mine, and a few days ago – I just received it. Since I was doing a clean installation, making it function as a media and download center – I’ve come up with a short guide explaining the installation and configuration process.
There are enormous number of tools out there to help you manage your daily activities. Lately I’ve discovered Trello, and started using it effectively for agile task tracking. Trello is a graphical tool to help you organize your tasks and data, giving you collaboration, it’s adaptive and very intuitive. Although Trello was not designed specifically for scrum management, with a few plugins, and a few work rules it be very effective. Trello makes my daily stand up meetings very short and effective. I will share my best practices, and remember that Trello has no boundaries regarding how you want to integrate it in your daily teams work flow.
Ever lost your android phone ? don’t remember where you left it ? or just want to track you r friends phone ?
If you have access to it’s Google account, you can track it without ever installing any tracking application. This is simply done with Google device manager
- Your device is connected with your Google account.
- Your device has access to the internet.
- Allowed Android Device Manager (ADM) to locate your device (turned on by default). This can changed in the Google Settings app.
- Allowed ADM to lock your device and erase its data (turned off by default).
You can even ring your phone in case you want to find it, or even wipe it’s data and lock it, if you pre-enabled that.
If you don’t have a browser, you can install the Google device manager app, and locate your phone from a different android phone.
Still this is not enough to deal with a bit more sophisticated thief, as if he disconnected the WIFI, or logged out from it’s Google account you won’t be able to locate your phone.
Even though, this is a nice feature to find your phone, which get lost sometimes.
For better tracking and locking features, you can always download a dedicated app from the app store.
Canon 70D tethering is still not well supported in Adobe Lightroom. A few days ago I ran into this post (p4pictures.com), offering a satisfying workaround.
Two days after the big launch events, showing the “lucky guys” to get their hands on the new iPhones, a lot of people started to publish drop tests, and tear downs of their devices.

With all the latest network virtualization hype, many are confused by the new buzzwords like SDN and NFV. In this post I will try to review these two, and try to find out if they are really rivals?
